So two night's ago I arrived in this beautiful, hustling and bustling city in Vietnam called Da Nang.
Unfortunately we have hit the rainy season, so naturally, it has been raining since our arrival here.
On the plus side, it's warm so I won't complain too much about that.
We are staying in Hotel Amanda in the city centre. We paid roughly 30 dollars for two nights, which to me is an absolute bargain!
The room is simple and clean. The breakfast also is included, which was absolutely delicious!
Vey healthy and flavoursome.
On the first day here we were lucky enough to find an apartment which we will be staying for the next 3 months.
The agent who helped us out was very friendly and helpful, if you are searching for a good apartment then look no further, this is the best site I have come across for that is DaNangLandlord.
The apartment is quite small, but for the two of us, it's perfect. The location is great too, a 5-minute walk to the beach! Doesn't get any better than that.
Things I have noticed so far are scooters. Scooters/ mini motorbikes whatever you call them, they are everywhere. I think that almost 90 per cent of the population uses them as a mode of transport.
There are no rules when it comes to driving, it's near impossible to cross a street and you really do have to be careful.
The Vietnamese iced coffee is the best thing I have tasted here so far, no joke. As a coffee lover, I can really say that it not only tastes so good, but it also gives you that caffeine buzz without having to drink many cups.
The milk here is sweet, yep sweet. I don't know if you can buy an unsweetened carton, but so far I haven't come across it.
The people here are very friendly, always smiling and greeting you.
Their English level seems quite good, especially in restaurants, hotels and some shops.
I haven't had too many difficulties with communication yet, and google translate does help a lot.
I look forward to settling into my new apartment and making it my own. So far I am quite happy with it, the internet speed is amazing and the building is quite new.
Per month the rent is about 380USD, which compared to Ireland and Brazil is very cheap.
Maybe if we had looked around more we could have found something better for that price, as in the size of the apartment. Yet, due to the rain and lack of transport, we decided to just go for it.
I really do look forward to getting to know this city more, exploring as much as I can and really embracing the culture. I think that I will learn to love it here, and already my first impression is a good one!
I can't wait to check out some Yoga studios and attend some classes here, I imagine that their practice style is different from the classes that I had attended in Ireland, and I hope that I can follow!
Today, after we complete the moving in process, we are going to MegaMarket in Da Nang, I guess it's like a Walmart or IKEA. We need to purchase some items for our apartment, such as cutlery and cleaning products etc.. and hopefully I am able to find myself a new Yoga mat too!
Happy Travelling! 😄
